This gay socialite made the headlines when he jumped to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list for the murder of Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace. He was believed to be a brilliant student, and with an IQ of 147, spoken seven languages. He was also said to have managed memorizing an entire encyclopedia set at the age of 10. However, his desire to have a luxurious lifestyle led to him becoming a pathological liar, even claiming to be the son of a millionaire. He targeted older and wealthy men with no families such as Norman Blachford, who made his fortune in sound-abatement equipment, and tried to entrench himself in the social circle of the rich. His falling out with Blachford was said to be the start of his downward spiral, already addicted to drugs and the lavish lifestyle he craved, he went on to kill five men, including business tycoon Lee Miglin and Versace, before shooting himself in 1997.
