The 1976 Chowchilla Bus Kidnapping That People Remember To This Day

Source: https://cbsnews.com
The day started out innocently enough. School bus driver Frank Edward “Ed” Ray had to transport 26 children inside his bus. He was in charge of their lives and assumed that the trip would go without a hitch. Nothing could have been further from the truth. He was supposed to haul 26 school children between the ages of 5 to 14 from the Chowchilla fairgrounds swimming pool back to Dairyland Elementary School. That was it. So, when he drove to the destination and found a van that blocked his path, little did he realize that his life would change forever.
And to this day, the townsfolk remember the event as if it were only yesterday.
