Swarms Of Snakes And Spiders Flock In Australian Homes After Flood

Floods bring in devastation. People often lose their homes when an insane amount of water conquers towns. This catastrophe displaces animals as well, which is exactly what happened in Australia. Homeowners look in fear and horror as snakes and spiders invade their homes.

Australia’s most populated state, New South Wales (NSW), has seen its fair share of devastation. The recent years haven’t been exactly kind to its residents. They have witnessed everything – from drought to bushfires. They have been hit by the recent pandemic as well.

NSW is no stranger to displaced wildlife too. They have been plagued by mice who have run amok in the streets, scaring other folks. Now, the devastating floods have brought in throngs of snakes and spiders that have made the nooks and crannies of houses their new homes. It has been quite a challenge to find ways to get rid of these pests.

People have shared videos and pictures across social media. Upon closer look, you’ll see how hundreds, or maybe even thousands of spiders, can be seen crawling through doorways and garages right before people were asked to evacuate their homes right before the flood. The issue to leave their homes was made early on, and the residents saw the need even then.

A resident posted a video on Facebook to show the world what was happening. Melanie Williams saw the arachnids that came in all different shapes and sizes. These eight-legged creatures scrambled about seeking shelter before the coming deluge. Williams shared, “Check these spiders out, oh my god, oh my god! Look at them all. No! No! Oh my god.”Like the other affected people in the area, there was nothing much she could do but film what was happening at the present.

The Guardian reported on this and talked about how, Kinchela resident Matt Lovenfosse was pulling up to his home one morning. He assumed that it was going to be a normal day, but as he drew closer, he witnessed what appeared to be a sea of  spiders climbing about to escape the floodwaters that had taken over the town.

Lovenfosse said, So I went out to have a look and it was millions of spiders.” He continued to explain, “It’s amazing. It’s crazyThe spiders all crawled up on to the house, on to fences and whatever they can get on to.”

The flooding had forced around 18,000 residents to flee the comforts of their homes the past week. The effects are devastating enough that the authorities believe the cleanup efforts could last until the entire month of April.

The rising water also resulted in people witnessing thousands of snakes and insects of every kind scrambling to flee from drowning. In fact, rescue boats even had to fend off jumping snakes that didn’t want to drown. It was sorry site and residents are making do with the tough hand that was dealt to them.

“There were also skinks, ants, basically every insect, crickets – all just trying to get away from the flood waters,” says Shenae Varley to Guardian Australia.

This just goes to show you the impressive wildlife that’s found in Australia. This is something that not everyone in the globe will be able to witness. The land down under is truly abound with species and creatures of every sort.
