Although the crew wouldn’t agree to keep the door open, it would seem that D.B. Cooper would continue to surprise them with his actions. While flying through the air in between Seattle and Reno, a bit after 8 p.m., Cooper jumped out the plane with his parachute and money, leaving behind one of the other parachutes and his black tie with the pearl tie clip. And if that wasn’t crazy enough, not a single trace of Cooper has been found until today.

Unbelievably, the rest of the crew left on the airplane was able to land safely and not a single person was harmed in the hijacking. And D.B. Cooper disappeared deep into the night. Once the remaining crew was safe on the ground, a major investigation began into what is now infamously known as the NORJAK case, abbreviated for Northwest Hijacking.
