Re-evaluating Evidence

Due to the popularity of the Norjack case, numerous groups have been trying to figure out who exactly D.B. Cooper was. A group of scientists known as Citizen Sleuths, have done their own investigation of the perplexing case. Tom Kaye, a paleontologist and spectroscopy expert, with knowledge in optical microscopy and metallurgical engineering, had found something on the black tie of Cooper that could be case breaking. The group explained, “A tie is one of the only articles of clothing that isn’t washed on a regular basis. It picks up dirt and grime just like any other piece of clothing, but that accumulation never truly gets ‘reset’ in the washing machine. Each of those particles comes from something and somewhere and can tell a story if the proper instruments like electron microscopes are used.”

Titanium Findings

They went on to explain that they used a particular microscope that managed to find ‘pure titanium’ on the tie. Since titanium was considered quite uncommon in the early 70’s, they thought that this was something to take note of. Possibly the owner of the tie in seat 18C could now be broken down to a “limited number of managers or engineers in the titanium field that would wear ties to work.”
