Served as the 33rd President of the US upon the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt. He is best remembered for allowing the use of nuclear weapons during war – at Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Also known for gaining United Nations approval for the policy approval of the action known as the Korean War, after Communist North Korea invaded South Korea in 1950. It saved South Korea, but the Chinese intervention drove back the US/UN forces and prevented Communism from returning to North Korea (until President Eisehower succeeded him).
