Language remains to be one of humanity’s most impressive achievements. In addition to helping individuals connect on intellectual levels, communication enables people from foreign locations to converse and possibly befriend each other.
Of course, with over 6,500 languages on the planet, it’s nearly impossible to communicate effectively with everyone. Fortunately, a new device called Travis the Translator has been invented, and it is able to translate 80 different languages with a two-second processing time.
Unlike Google Translate, Travis uses artificial intelligence to translate foreign languages. That means the translations become smarter, more native and more accurate as it is utilized. Additionally, Google Translate requires correct spelling and an excess of typing, whereas Travis simply translates languages at the touch of a button. It utilizes voice recognition; as a result, conversation is able to flow more naturally.
The founders of the innovative technology created an IndieGoGo campaign with the intent of raising $80,000. Before it’s completion, the campaign to raise funds for the manufacturing of the device exceeded nearly $200,000. Delivery dates are estimated for July. The founders wrote:
“Ever wished you spoke another language? Well you’re not alone. There are 7 billion people on this planet and over 6,500 languages, but most of us – 83% to be exact – speak maybe one or two. So call us crazy or naive, but here at Travis we think we can bring the world together, by making sure we can all have a chat.”
