Flying can be a harrowing experience, more so when the weather isn’t cooperating. For Air Florida flight 90, January 13, 1982 was going to be a day that nobody would forget. A plane was allowed to take off despite the horrific weather conditions and due to rash decision-making, out of 74 passengers and 5 crewmembers, originally 6 people survived all because of one man named Arland D. Williams, Jr. He was passenger number 6, and because of his heroic deeds, 5 people would live while he would end up giving his life for them.

His name may not be one that everyone talks about but when you hear his story, you’ll soon realize that he’s a true hero in every sense of the word.
