Flu Duration

The signs and symptoms mentioned earlier in this article constitute the classical presentation of the common flu, medically referred to as UNCOMPLICATED influenza. Symptoms of this kind of influenza appear abruptly, particularly those that affect the upper respiratory tract (non-productive cough, sore throat, and runny nose) along with the accompanying signs that indicate infection (fever, chills, muscle pain, headache and general weakness).

Typically, the signs and symptoms of the flu disappear after 3-7 days. However, cough and general body weakness can remain for another 2 weeks, particularly in individuals with lowered immunity such as the elderly.
