95-Year-Old Italian Grandmother Becomes The Oldest Known Woman To Get Healed From Coronavirus. There Is Still Hope!

NU

A perfect example of that Anne Frank’s memorable quote, ‘where there’s hope, there’s life’ – this 95-year-old Italian grandmother has officially become the oldest woman to recover from Covid-19.

After suffering pneumonia symptoms of this deadly disease, Alma Clara Corsini was taken to the Pavulo Hospital located in the northern province of Modena last March 5.

She was one of the 60,000 people confirmed and tested to be positive of coronavirus in Italy since the country’s north has been brutally hit by the pandemic.

Despite this huge number of infected cases, Italian doctors and medical workers have been working night and day across their country and took care of Corsini throughout her whole hospital stay – making her the first to recover from the novel virus in Modena.

She confirmed last week that, “Yes, yes, I’m fine… They were good people who looked after me well.”

It was reported by the Gazette Di Modena that she made a healthy recovery without the need for any “antiviral therapy,” and her body was showing a “great reaction” despite being infected.

Even Pope Francis shared her good fortune by posting her image on Facebook with the members of the medical team that brought her back to good health. In the post, the pope wrote:

“In Italy, a 95-year-old granny is the first patient to be cured of coronavirus. Alma Clara Corsini has won this battle for her life to give us hope.”

Since her discharge from the hospital, Corsini was sent back to her home in Fanano.

During the last weekend alone, more than 1,400 people across Italy has passed away due to the contagious virus as the country does all it can to control the horrific spread. As the country is officially on lockdown, practically all movement has been banned with all non-essential businesses shut down. Being the epicentre of this global crisis, Italy has already exceeded China’s number of infected cases and deaths by at least triple, despite its lesser population.

Over 6,000 Italians are tested positive daily, with an average of 78.5 years dying from this deadly virus.

On March 26 alone, 919 Italians’ lives were taken away from them in one night, making the total death toll 9,134.
