‘World’s Saddest Dog’ Is Homeless Again And May Be Euthanized If New Home Isn’t Found

If Lana isn't adopted by May 20th, she will be euthanized.

In 2015, an image of Lana – “the saddest dog in the world” – circulated on the internet. It showed her looking dejected in a kennel, as she had just been returned by the family who adopted her. In effect, she was too depressed to even go on walks. Said Dahlia Ayoub of Mighty Mutts in 2015, “It’s almost like her world shut down.”

After the image received a monumental amount of attention, one family decided she might be the dog for them. However, because Lana is the runt of the litter and likely has inherent urges to protect her food, she snapped at her human mom. This resulted in the family deciding they’d rather give her back to the shelter than chance someone being bitten in the future. Additionally, they agreed that they wanted a dog they could “pet and play with.” Lana is a sweet girl, but she’s just not comfortable enough with humans to have her belly rubbed.

“Lana’s adoption did not work out because people want a dog they can pet and play with,” said Brenda Dobranski, founder of Rescue Dogs Match. “Lana is a silly fun girl but she is not the type of dog that will let you give belly rubs…”.

As a result of the canine being returned to the shelter, she only has until May 20th until she is euthanized, reports The Dodo. Please share this news to help Lana find a furrever home. Additionally, you can email [email protected] to foster or adopt her. The rescue is considering applications from Canada and the U.S.

In 2015, the following image of Lana went viral.

At that time, the people who adopted her decided to return her back to the shelter. This made her too upset to go for walks.

After her story went viral, she was adopted!

But, unfortunately, the family still wasn’t right for her.

Lana only has until May 20th to get adopted – or else she will be euthanized.

The canine has been through so much and just needs someone who understands her.

Can you make the world’s saddest dog a happy one again?
