Don’t buy into the hype that as one grows older, they must undoubtedly whither away until all they’re capable of doing is watching television as someone changes their diaper. There are plenty of individuals challenging the status quo of what it means to age gracefully, and one such person is Alla Illyinichna Levushkina.
The Russian surgeon might be 89-years-old, but she still performs 4 operations every day. She does this in addition to caring for her disabled nephew and her eight cats. The health care professional has been performing surgeries for an astounding 67 years and has no intention of slowing down.
“Being a doctor isn’t just a profession but a lifestyle,” she told Lite FM. “If I stopped working, who is going to perform the surgeries?”
Alla estimates that she’s performed more than 10,000 operations in her lifetime, and is ambitious to keep operating on people. When asked what the secret to her long life is, Levushkina commented:
“‘I didn’t find any secret to longevity. I just eat everything, laugh a lot and cry a lot.”
Alla Illyinichna Levushkina is the world’s oldest surgeon.
She’s been operating for almost 70 years…
…and has performed over 10,000 surgeries.
She might be 89-years-old, but Alla has no intention of slowing down.
“Being a doctor isn’t just a profession but a lifestyle,” she said.
