Women Who Support Bernie Sanders Only Want Attention From Boys, Says Feminist Gloria Steinem

During a recent interview with Bill Maher, feminist Gloria Steinem stated that women who support Bernie Sanders for president are only after the attention of boys.

She dropped the unpopular notion during a broader discussion of the season’s Democratic primary.

In the interview (shown above), Steinem states:

Women are more for [Clinton] than men are. …First of all, women get more radical as we get older, because we experience. …Not to over-generalize, but … men tend to get more conservative because they gain power as they age, women get more radical because they lose power as they age.

And, when you’re young, you’re thinking, where are the boys? The boys are with Bernie…”

Maher then responds, jokingly, that if he were to say something like that, Steinem would likely slap him. He has a point, as New Republic points out.

Most feminists would be appalled if a man chalked young women’s politics up to their desire to meet boys. Which is why Steinem’s statement is so controversial.

If Gloria’s opinion is on point, why are a number of all women’s colleges – such as Wellesley – such strong backers of Sanders? There are no boys around to impress at those institutions…
