Doug Stanhope has been a stand-up comic since 1990 and his style is similar to that of two of America’s greatest funny men, Bill Hicks and George Carlin. His routines are controversial, intelligent and political, and according to his biography, his shows are ‘certainly not for everybody’.
‘Doug is vulgar, opinionated, brutally honest and shockingly uninhibited,’ his website reads. That’s true, but he’s also a breath of fresh air in a crazy world, and his material (like Hicks‘s and Carlin‘s) only seems to become more relevant as time goes by. In this classic clip, Stanhope hilariously tackles the twin issues of patriotism and anti-immigration rhetoric in his unique style.
