On Super Bowl Sunday, most people prefer to ignore politics and focus on the highly anticipated game. After watching 84 Lumber’s 90-second commercial, however, it’s likely that most football fans were prompted to discuss politics, even if just for a moment.

That’s because the emotional advertisement depicts an immigrant mother and daughter going on a perilous journey to find a better life in America. Though the second half of the commercial wasn’t aired by Fox News, as it was deemed “too controversial,” it should have been.

As you can view for yourself below, the mother and daughter persevere on a perilous journey to find a better life in America. When they are close to reaching their destination, they are confronted by a massive wall. The heartache is palpable. However, the duo finds a large set of double doors, which were apparently built by the carpenters seen earlier in the clip.

The video concludes with the message “The Will to Succeed is Always Welcome Here.” According to the building supplies business which is based in Pennsylvania, the intent was to illustrate the company’s commitment to the great American tradition of immigration – not make an overt political statement.

Interest in the advertisement caused 84 Lumber’s website to crash shortly after it aired. After watching the unedited version of the commercial below, we think you’ll understand why it was so popular.
