The fact this is a commercial becomes irrelevant when you see the real joy on this (hearing impaired) man's face.
We don’t always think about how deaf or hearing impaired people feel on a day-to-day level, unless we personally know someone who uses sign language as their primary mode of communication. ‘Hearing hands’ by Samsung is very touching, and (despite being a commercial), very real.
Hidden cameras follow a man and his friend during a short walk around the town. People start communicating with him in sign language, which makes him puzzled, then happy. When he realizes that all of this has been done for him “to break barriers”, his response is very beautiful and very moving. This is a really feel-good, uplifting video which should make us all wonder: Why aren’t we teaching kids sign language at school?
