There are some incredibly generous and creative people on this Earth. From Australia’s oldest man knitting sweaters for penguins affected by oil spills to the mother and daughter duo creating jumpers for rescued chickens so they might stay warm in the winter, kind people pursuing their passion are everywhere.

Another individual inspired to improve others’ lives with yarn is Jan Brown, a 52-year-old mom from Seaburn, UK.

Brown has been knitting beautiful and adorable sweaters for greyhounds and whippets since 2008. With the holiday season right around the corner, the entrepreneur has knitted some cute Christmas versions of her sweaters, as well!

So far, Jan has knitted over 300 jumpers for the rescued dogs.

She told The Metro:

“I have spent over 4,000 hours knitting, but it’s all worthwhile when I see them sporting their new jumpers and hats. Greyhounds have very thin fur so they really feel the cold during the winter so my gifts help keep them warm during walks”

Her unique business, Knitted With Love, began when Brown started knitting sweaters for abandoned greyhounds at the Greyhound Rescue Northeast shelter in Tyne & Wear. Consumed with her love of knitting for the greyhounds and whippets, she eventually quit her job so she could focus on the passion full-time.

Thanks to the internet, some of her creations – and the adorable dogs who wear them – follow:

“There are so many dogs that won’t be rehomed this Christmas so for many of them it’s the only gift they will get”
