While tromping through the woods in Connecticut, a young bear couldn’t help but follow the wafting smell of baking brownies. While it certainly did what anyone else would do in its situation, the bear ended up startling a woman who was in her kitchen concocting the creation.
WFSB reports that the unnamed woman heard movement on her screen door and after looking around, was shocked to see a young bear peering in the glass. Obviously attempting to intrude, it thumped again on the door.

At one point, the bear pulled himself up onto the woman’s porch railing and stood on it trying to find a way in!

Understandably in fright, the woman called her neighbor, Bob Belfiore, to see if he could help with the situation. She didn’t want to hurt the bear, but gently “shoo” him away.
“He actually left the kitchen area and went to the second set of doors off the deck,” said Belfiore. ”And tried those and then went to the third set of doors into the living room and attempted to get into those.”

The duo ended up ignoring the bear, which eventually prompted him to leave. As The Dodo points out, bears have a very keen sense of smell, so this incident is not surprising. However, it is a good lesson for others to not leave food out for wild animals, or they, too, might find themselves face-to-face with a predator.
