In a number of countries, liking – let alone marrying – a member of the same sex is prohibited and punishable by death. Fortunately, in the United States, it is now legal for LGBTQ couples to marry.
To celebrate this right (which, believe it or not, was afforded only in 2015), newlyweds Yalonda and Kayla Solseng participated in a fairy tale-themed engagement shoot. Both are big fans of the ABC television series “Once Upon A Time”, which is why Yolanda dressed up as Cinderella and Kayla as Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
Magical is one word that can be used to describe the photos (below), as is breathtaking, inspiring, and heartwarming. All photos for the engagement shoot were taken at Romantic Moon Events Center in Glyndon, Minnesota. When the photos were shared on LGBT Facebook page Have A Gay Day, they were liked more than 17,000 times and shared by more than 8,000 fans!
Yalonda wrote on Facebook:
“I am overwhelmed with happiness and so grateful that I found my soul mate. Our dream is to write children’s books featuring more diverse families such as foster care parents, two moms, two dads, adoptive parents etc!”
