A woman named Maggie Dietrich posted the photo above of a flight attendant of American Airlines on Facebook, causing a controversy. American Airlines responded that they would investigate the employee.

According to American Airlines, employee uniform guidelines allow a maximum of 5 pins to be worn at one time, with a maximum of 2 pins of “charitable/philanthropic causes or organization or personal pins of the employee’s choice”.

In effect, American Airlines protects this employee’s right to free speech and individuality, as well as the right for dissenting opinions.

Some Twitter/Facebook commentators insist that American Airlines allow this employee to keep his job, due to the fact that he is following their employee guidelines.
