This Device Translates Foreign Languages In Real Time [Watch]

Have you ever traveled somewhere new or met a friend from another country and wished you could communicate flawlessly? When a similar idea was presented in the movie The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, nearly everyone wished they had such a device. Now, one exists, and it is capable of translating any language into one’s native tongue in real time.

As the video above reveals, the groundbreaking idea was inspired when the creator met a French woman and wished he could communicate. After two years of hard work, The Pilot system was presented by Waverly Labs, a technology firm based in New York.

An app accompanies that innovative ear bud, allowing one to toggle through the languages. Included are French, Spanish, Italian, and English.

While the current model seems to access a slight delay before relaying translated speech in a computerized voice, it is likely this will be phased out as the invention gets upgraded.
