Plants are pretty important, but not all buildings can sustain the right environment to grow them indoors. Thanks to inquisitive thinkers with Studio We Love Eames, however, there now exists a solution for that, too.
The Mygdal plant, reports Bored Panda, doesn’t require any human care – such as ventilation or irrigation – to grow plants in windowless spaces. Instead, the invention makes use of the physical similarity between LED and sunlight; thus, it is possible for the plants to perform photosynthesis.
The group shares on Facebook that the luminaire is a completely self-sustaining ecosystem where the plants can grow undisturbed for years. Incredibly, the standing lamp provides a new type of electrically conductive glass coating (patent requested), which is able to stream the electricity invisible along the surface. That means there is no need for a cable connection to be strung between the power source and the Led.
As the designers share, “This technical innovation opens up absolutely new opportunities in greenery design.”
