Students are often either bad at cooking, or too busy to cook for themselves. However, nutrition is one of the most important things when it comes to your physical, mental health, and well-being. To have the energy you need to complete your school tasks, the first thing you must do is forget about all that junk food and learn to prepare some healthy, easy meals.

If you aren’t used to making your own food or simply don’t know how to prepare quick healthy meals, I can teach you in just few minutes. There are many simple, basic recipes that will provide you with healthy food that bursts with flavor and doesn’t hurt your budget at all. Below you’ll find some really tasty and easy meals to make to get you through your study years.

1.  Pizza

Everyone loves a good pizza. As a student, you probably eat it a lot. However, pizza can be very costly in the long term, while making homemade pizza will cost you almost nothing. Moreover, it will be tastier than anything you buy and you’ll be able to put whatever you want on it.

Here is what you need to make the pizza dough:

  • 70ml Milk
  • One tablespoon olive oil
  • 100g flour (self-rising)

Now, take a large mixing bowl and add these ingredients. Mix them with your hands until they form a dough. Start rolling the dough. Seeing how this process takes minutes, you can literally make fresh pizza every time you feel like it. When you have the dough ready, just put your toppings and spices on it, and bake it for 20 minutes on 200℃

2.  Spaghetti Bolognese

Do you like the Italian cuisine? It’s delicious and easy to prepare – especially the pasta. Have some pasta ready at your home at all time, boil it, and make a tasty sauce to go with it. It’s cheap, it’s easy, and it’s amazingly tasty!

All you need for the Bolognese sauce is:

  • 1 or 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • One diced onion
  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 clove of garlic, chopped
  • 100g sliced mushrooms
  • Chopped tomatoes (1-2 tins)
  • Mixed herbs of your choice
  • Cheese (optional)

While your spaghetti are boiling, heat some olive oil in a frying pan. Add the beef in and use the spatula to break it up until it fries. After you cut the onions, add them to the meat. Then, add the mushrooms and garlic. Once these are finely cooked, at the chopped tomatoes and the herbs. If you like its taste, you can also add some Worchester sauce. Boil this for about 15 minutes and put it away.

Drain your spaghetti and serve them with the hot sauce. If you chose to add some cheese, sprinkle your dish with it. Bon appetite!

3.  Sausage and Vegetables Roast

Frying, boiling and chopping can take a while. If you don’t have the time to do it or simply don’t feel like it, you might like this one-tray recipe. However, to keep your meals varied and your body healthy, you shouldn’t avoid cooking altogether. When you don’t eat well, your body is deprived of the much needed nutrients and vitamins, so it is easy to lose focus and motivation. Sure, when this happens, you can always ask for some essay help. But, even if you do, you’ll still need to learn to cook something.

Now, this is an excellent recipe for when you lack the time. All you need to do is put the following ingredients into a pan and in the oven:

  • Some sausages
  • Chopped sweet potatoes
  • Broccoli
  • A chopped onion
  • Some olive oil
  • Herbs of your choice

Roast this mixture for around half an hour. Add the onions after 15-20 minutes have passed to avoid it from burning. The broccoli are added to the ingredient list to serve as a healthy side dish, so boil them while you wait for your roast to cook.

4.  Stir Fry Chicken

Do you like chicken? Then you’ll definitely like this easy recipe. Cook some rice or potatoes as a side dish, and use the following ingredients for the stir fry:

  • Two diced chicken breasts
  • 1-2 finely sliced spring onions
  • 2 eggs
  • Some peas

Grab a wok and put your olive oil in it. Use it to fry the chicken. Then, add the spring onions and some peas to the chicken. Add in the rice and use a spatula to break them up. Stir everything until it becomes hot and the rice is cooked. When it is done, add the eggs.

You can serve this with chili sauce or soy sauce.
