Animals can teach humans a lot about unconditional love. For example, even when someone yells at their dog for being too rowdy, the pup will always return for cuddles and kisses. And in some instances, even when people torture an animal for unknown reasons, he or she will still give people the benefit of the doubt and learn to trust again.
Such is the story of a chihuahua mix named Chunky, who was abused by teenagers last year. According to Metro, Chunky was kidnapped by kids, given drugs, kicked, punched, set on fire, and eventually dumped after they tired of abusing him. Caroline Doe, an RSPCA inspector, told Honest to Paws:
“This was the most disturbing case I have ever dealt with – by an absolute mile. These youths admitted feeding Chunky drugs, kicking and punching him, and wringing and breaking his neck before dumping him. They also said they set fire to his face and eyes after lighting a deodorant aerosol can. ”
“The whole thing sends shivers down my spine,” Doe added.
The ordeal resulted in the pup’s legs being broken. Fortunately, Chunky was rescued and received the care he needed. He also was reunited with his owners. Though the incident took place last year, it’s important to acknowledge because animal cruelty continues to take place all around the world. Fortunately, activists like yourself can help raise awareness about the travesty and “be the change” they desire to see in the world.
