America’s rich history has had its share of wonderful breakthroughs and embarrassing secrets. Its people take pride in the hard work they have done and the many, difficult battles they’ve fought. Unfortunately, slavery has been part of its difficult past, but these are the experiences that make America what it is. The people have emerged from the experience stronger, albeit scarred. Nonetheless, discoveries linked to its past have become a big deal.
Which is why when what may have been the remains of The Clotilda have been found in the river, historians and citizens alike have taken interest.
The Beginning
Slaves from Africa were being shipped to the America regularly. These poor children were pulled out of her homes, yanked away from their families, and forced to work for someone else, without pay and without the chance of achieving freedom. Some of the people who brought these slaves to the land of milk and honey even made a game out of it.
