The Vietnam War was a disruptive moment in history that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from November 01, 1955 until the fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975. It was a long, costly and conflict-ridden saga that pitted the communist government of North Vietnam against South Vietnam and its principal ally, the United States. It lasted 19 years with direct United States involvement ending in 1973. Like in most wars and in any conflict, the innocent fall victim on both sides of the spectrum: more than 3 million people (including over 58,000 Americans) were killed in the Vietnam War, and more than half of the dead were Vietnamese civilians!
