Taco Shop Sets Up “Take One Leave One” Coat Rack For Homeless [Watch]

Tacos and beer are nice, but when one is homeless and living on the street, a warm coat can go a lot further in helping one survive. It’s for this reason that compassionate entrepreneur Emilia Flores, who owns The Taco Stop in Dallas, set up a free coat, hat, and scarf exchange outside of her business.

WFAA reports that the recent freezing temperatures in Texas inspired the good samaritan to offer winter clothing to those who need it for the second year in a row. With a banner that reads “Are you cold? Take one… Do you want to help? Leave one.”, the rack is easy-to-spot and clear in its message.

Even if people aren’t homeless, Flores wants to ensure they’re prepared for the cold front. She commented:

“This is a way of people not being embarrassed about asking. They just come and pick what they need and leave.”

The Taco Shop owner is persistent in her efforts to help others. In the last year alone, the rack was stolen four times. However, she and the loyal customers have decided that they’ll continue to re-install it as many times as necessary, as long as there’s a need for the items that are offered.
