That point of desperation can motivate a person to do things they wouldn’t have ever imagined doing. When you are in between a rock and a hard place between saving the life of your child, but not having the means to do so, a parent would do anything it takes even if it is illegal. This is exactly what happened to a father that led him to rob a Bustleton smoke shop recently.

It was the odd turn of events that caused the bigger commotion, because the suspect suddenly returned all the money he stole, and ended up telling the truth. Up until now, the Philadelphia police isn’t so sure how the events transpired!

According to the authorities, an armed man wearing a green raincoat and a black-and-white mask covering the lower part of his face entered the One Stop Smoke Shop located in Verree Road nearby Red Lion Road at the beginning of July just before 11 in the morning.

The police reported that the suspect went up to the counter and threatened the sales lady that he would shoot if she didn’t immediately open the cash register. After following his orders and opening the cash register, the robber grabbed all the money inside, but had a change of hear and suddenly told her: “You know what, I’m not gonna do it to you, it’s not gonna help my daughter’s transplant, and then just returned all the money inside before leaving the establishment.

Though the police had no information on what kind of transplant the man’s daughter needed, CBS3 reported that the suspect mentioned that his daughter badly needed a kidney transplant.

The owner of the One Stop Smoke shop, who chose to remain anonymous told CBS3 that the robber ‘almost stole’ a little more than $100 but at the end, “refused to take it” and returned it saying it wasn’t enough.

Even though the money was eventually returned and the suspect left the store without stealing anything, the police said that if they are able to identify him, they will still charge him with attempted armed holdup.

As previously reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer, “the suspect is described as a heavy-set man around 6 feet tall in his late 20s or early 30s. He also wore a black shirt, pants, and sneakers, and blue latex gloves.”
