Activists creating art to raise awareness about dependency on modern technology is nothing new, but the collection created by French photographer Antoine Geiger is certainly unique.

For his project titled SUR-FAKE, the activist created photos of people having their faces sucked into their cell phones.

His aim was to touch on issues of technology dependence and addiction. Says Geiger:

“It is placing the screen as an object of ‘mass subculture’, alienating the relation to our own body, and more generally to the physical world.”

The 20-year-old photographer who has lived in England, France and the Netherlands has already had four exhibitions, which have mentioned or published in print ten times.

Ironically, you’re likely reading this article on your cell phone. Regardless, the collection is thought-provoking and hints at some deeper truths.
