30. Visible Lump in the Neck (Thyroid Mass)

The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped organ located in the front of the neck, just below the Adam’s apple. It is normally inconspicuous and quite difficult to see and palpate because of its soft texture and relatively flat shape. Therefore, abnormal growths in the thyroid manifest as lumps on the throat which can be very obvious to the casual observer.
