4. Inflammation

Almost every time a patient gets gout, one of the main symptoms is swelling of the affected joint. The fact that it doesn’t always affect the same joint every time, which can be quite disconcerting, is often believed to be something else but the cause is truly gout. If you notice inflammation and swelling, alongside the pain and tenderness when touching the affected area, gout is most probably the culprit.
