Religulous

Bill Maher interviews some of religion’s oddest adherents. Muslims, Jews and Christians of many kinds pass before his jaundiced eye. Maher goes to a Creationist Museum in Kentucky, which shows that dinosaurs and people lived at the same time 5000 years ago. He talks to truckers at a Truckers’ Chapel. (Sign outside: “Jesus love you.”) He goes to a theme park called Holy Land in Florida. He speaks to a rabbi in league with Holocaust deniers.

He talks to a Muslim musician who preaches hatred of Jews. Maher finds the unlikeliest of believers and, in a certain Vatican priest, he even finds an unlikely skeptic. Written by J. Spurlin with quotes from major figureheads like Thomas Jefferson, George W. Bush and Osama Bin Laden, Bill Maher, with a Jewish-Catholic background, sets out to prove that having faith and seeking directions from God is basically ridiculous and may be due to a neurotic disorder.

Interviewing Christians, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Mormons, scientists, gays, and atheists, he cites that the number of non-believers is increasing in North America. He attempts to prove his point by citing inconsistencies in the Bible, the controversial birth of Lord Jesus, the inability of religious heads to account for His absence for over 18 years, as well as the absence of any concrete evidence that disproves the theory of evolution.

In these times of great disasters and conflicts happening around the world, our religious pastors and priests advise us to call on the name of Jesus for protection and salvation. But as we call on Jesus’ name the more the calamities and conflicts are getting worse and more people are dying and suffering.
    Why does this happen?
In the Bible we can read that before Jesus died, he cried out :
… “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Matt.27:46 NKJV
Why did Jesus cry out he was forsaken by God? If God forsook Jesus, how much more us who only call on Jesus? Are we making God angry by calling on Jesus whom He has forsaken and not on His TRUE NAME?
It’s time we discover who Jesus in the Bible really is and learn God’s true decree about Jesus — if he was forsaken by God to be punished by the rod of men for our sins OR for his OWN iniquity.

Let us now open our minds. Thank you.”

Would you trust your microwave if you’d know that the manual was translated through 13 different languages. Not me. Your man made book is no more than a fable like humpty dump, dear man.. Please find a good meditation teacher. Your beliefs have little to do with you; they have been fed to you by a conveorbelt reaching from the midevil. Of no use. It’s just perverse..

“In these times of great disasters and conflicts happening around the world…”

It’s not really though, is it. Per head of population I’d wager that the Roman expansion or wars of the Middle Ages affected far more people. We just have the technology to broadcast when a tsunami hits or a brutal dictator beheads his own people.

    son of god..
that’s just like lil wayne saying. “i’m the son of rap”
let me tell you this.. if all that stuff which you call “holy” were told to you after your education or when you reached the age of reason.. it would be a sheer fantasy and nothing else.. just like twilight or harry potter.. and you’ve got a choice..
in my school assembly.. the ‘thought for the day’ gives meaning than the god damn prayer..
i don’t get it.. what knowledge are you going to get by some weird (no offence) rituals or wearing a cross or saying some meaningless prayers? try a book of quotes, sayings or how about a video of George Carlin? will sure help you in life.. like..
“to live a creative life, we must loose the fear of being wrong” or..
“happiness is a way of travel, not a destination”

Many of these videos are either no longer available or are blocked so this list is really not of much use. I would have liked to have viewed many of them.
