Many children from the foster care system are saved by adoption in the United States, with America adopting more than 40% than any other country. In fact, there are around 135,000 kids taken in by families each year. And while most of them find ways to make it work, there are usually bumps along the way.
In this particular story, the bump was more like a wall, a huge, overwhelming, murderous wall… And it came in the surprising size of a little 6-year old girl.
Getting Adopted
Like many children in the United States and all over the world, Beth had luckily found a family that wanted to adopt her and her little brother. They had lost their mother at a young age, Beth was 1 and Jonathan was 7 months, and their father was deemed unfit to care for them. Thankfully, there was a couple that wanted them.
