Pizza Shop Delivers 80 Free Pies To Homeless Shelter On New Year’s Day [Watch]

New Year’s day is often filled with celebration, the writing up of resolutions, and contemplation on what the year will bring.

Which is why Alex Garcia, the general manager at Flo’s Pizzeria Ristorante in Michigan, knew it was the perfect day to brighten the lives of some people who may not be viewing the future too optimistically.

WXMI News reports that the donation of eighty pizza pies was a spur-of-the-moment decision by Flo’s Pizzeria.

Garcia shared the idea with the shop’s owner, Davide Uccello, who thought that it was such a good idea, he wanted to act on it right away.

“2015 was our biggest and best year we’ve ever had at Flo’s,” Uccello said. “So this was something, with my heart I wanted to say, ‘Let’s give back now.’”

In just forty minutes, the kitchen whipped up 80 pizzas which they promptly delivered to a homeless shelter in Grand Rapids. The incredible philanthropy turned into an epic pizza party for dozens of people down on their luck.

Best of all, the delivery guys received a standing ovation as a tip.

Uccello was so pleased with the charity, he wants to make it an annual tradition.

When people come together, amazing things happened. That’s what I learned today,” he said.
