Many agree that a police officer’s main objective should be to improve the lives of civilians, not hound them for making minor traffic infractions or, most importantly, beating – and even killing them – for breaking the law. Thankfully, officers who strive to make the world a better place do exist, and every now and again, True Activist has the pleasure of sharing some of those stories.

Recently, two Texas police officers were making rounds when they came across a man named Quintius, who obviously needed help. Recognizing this, Sgt. Stephen Wick and Officer Colin Mansfield wasted no time.

Insider Edition reports that the two men could see from the elderly, blind man’s appearance that his health wasn’t in good condition and that he was living on the streets. His feet, in addition to being dirty, had toenails that were so long that they cut into his own feet.

The first order of business was to buy new clothes and shoes for Quintius. Then, Sgt. Wick humbly kneeled down to wash the blind man’s feet and give him a pedicure. Their last combined effort was to find him permanent housing.

Said Sgt. Wick:

“It didn’t have some deep meaning, but it made me feel good to be able to help Quintius. Help your neighbor if you can. Get out there and help folks.”

It’s easy to believe that all cops are monsters due to the recent stories concerning the unjust deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, but it’s important to remember that the individuals behind the badges are just people, too. They make mistakes like everyone, and a few bad apples shouldn’t condemn the entire police force. Do you agree or disagree?
