Officers Build Cozy Condo For Cat Who Adopted Local Police Station

For the past four years, a friendly calico feline has wandered outside of the Boston Police Department’s SWAT team headquarters. Naturally, she was adopted as the group’s ‘mascot’. And because all team players deserve a lovely place to recline in the evening, the team eventually ended up constructing her a cozy little kitty condo.

The Dodo reports that SWAT cat, as she’s been affectionately named, is beloved by the group as she always makes sure to greet them when they return for a call or curl up with a member when they sit outside. The real travesty was that she refused to move indoors.

“The men and women of the BPD SWAT Team have tried numerous tactics over the years to convince her to come in from the elements but she is set in her ways,” a department spokesperson wrote online. Over the handful of years, the team built her a variety of shelters. One day, however, they decided she deserved a truly welcoming abode. The Department wrote on Facebook:

“Officer Jamie Pietroski, a 15-year veteran of the Boston Police Department, stayed late after work for several nights painstakingly preparing Swat Cat’s new home. The condo features a spacious studio interior layout, a large deck for outdoor dining and glass sliding doors offering panoramic city views.”

SWAT cat didn’t seem to mind and moved in immediately.

“Swat Cat moved right in and looks very happy with her new custom kitty accommodations,” they added.

Now the law enforcement workers can rest easy at night knowing she’s in a safe and comfortable shelter.
