NZ Minister Has Dildo Thrown In His Face After Signing The TPP

facedildoEconomic Development Minister of New Zealand Steven Joyce was hit in the face with a large dildo just after his role in the signing of the controversial  Trans-Pacific Partnership or TPP agreement. Joyce was speaking at Waitangi, where he was faced with more protesters than supporters when the projectile was launched at him.

A woman in the crowd threw the object and shouted “that’s for raping our sovereignty.” Her aim was perfect, and she hit him square in the center of the face, and she was quickly escorted away by security.

We actually thought it was a little bit humorous at the end of it all. New experiences in politics every day, it’s the privilege of serving,Joyce told reporters.

Protester Josie Butler, the woman responsible for the incident, later expressed her concern about the passing of the TPP and its effect on the medical health industry.

“I am worried about patient rights because of the price of medications going up,” Butler said.

Public Citizen, a Washington activist group that has protested the TPP, explained how TPP would affect the pharmaceutical industry in a recent statement, saying that:

The USTR has long pushed for increased marketing exclusivity periods for biologics – medical products derived from living organisms, including many new and forthcoming cancer treatments. Exclusivity means product monopolies, with no competition from generics or biosimilars; medicine prices in the tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars per person; and the rationing of treatment access. Marketing exclusivity is separate from and independent of patent protection, though the protections may overlap. The USTR has supported an eight-year minimum monopoly period, while a majority bloc of negotiating countries will not consider more than five years’ exclusivity.
