The Democratic Party’s commissioner for the Manhattan Board of Elections, Alan Schulkin, slammed NYC Mayor Bill deBlasio’s municipal voter ID program as facilitating widespread election fraud. Schulkin’s words were filmed via hidden camera when he spoke to an undercover journalist working for the conservative group Project Veritas during a 2015 United Federation of Teachers holiday party. The undercover journalist had identified herself to Schulkin as a “political consultant.” As he did not know he was being recorded, Schulkin did not hold back and expressed his support for stricter voter ID laws due to the fraudulent activity he had witnessed. Liberal groups have argued that stricter voter ID laws discriminate against minorities and the poor. Though Schulkin said that he believed that the law had “good intentions” but had ultimately led to “a lot of bad results.

Schulkin made several allegations against fraudulent activity carried out by his own party in the video. He claimed that people from certain neighborhoods are bussed “from poll site to poll site” and were allowed to vote multiple times as they did not have to show any ID in order to enter polling stations as per deBlasio’s policy. Schulkin, when prompted by the undercover reporter, agreed that most of these “bussed” voters were from minority neighborhoods who have a tendency to vote for Democratic candidates. Schulkin speculated that the reason for this fraud is that Democrats wanted “more votes for themselves.”

Schulkin also said:

“He gave out ID cards, de Blasio. That’s in lieu of a driver’s license, but you can use it for anything. […] But they didn’t vet people to see who they really are. Anybody can go in there and say, ‘I am Joe Smith, I want an ID card. […] It’s absurd. There is a lot of fraud. Not just voter fraud, all kinds of fraud . . . This is why I get more conservative as I get older.”

Later on in the conversation, Schulkin also raised the issue of absentee ballot fraud. When asked about the issues, he responded “Oh, there’s thousands of absentee ballots . . . I don’t know where they came from.” It is truly astounding to here Manhattan’s own election commissioner say that he has no way of knowing where thousands of absentee ballots originated or if they are valid. Schulkin’s claims were filmed before this year’s Presidential primary, which involved widespread fraud in favor of the now-Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. The evidence for fraud in the Democratic California Primary was especially astounding. Much of this fraud was directly perpetrated by the Democratic National Committee, whose corruption was exposed by leaks from the hacker Guccifer 2.0. With faith in the US Election system already weak, will it possible to ensure that November’s Presidential election does not fall prey to the same scam?
