Legendary music icon Neil Young might be best known for his tracks ‘Heart of Gold’ and ‘Rockin In The Free World,’ but he is soon to gain even more attention from his latest record set for release. In collaboration with the Willie Nelson sons, Young has recently announced the debut of a new album called ‘The Monsanto Years’.

As you might have guessed, the album is made up of songs criticizing food industry giant Monsanto, which Neil has spoken out against for years. On June 16 the record will be released, with Young and Promise of the Real touring to support it.

Some of the track titles include “Seeds,” “Too Big to Fail,” “Monsanto Years,” and “Rock Starbucks.” This is one activist not afraid to sing his mind.

Here’s Neil Young’s upcoming tour dates for ‘The Monsanto Years’:

July 5 – Milwaukee, WI @ Summerfest

July 8 & 9 – Denver, CO @ Red Rocks

July 11 – Lincoln, NE @ Pinnacle Bank Arena

July 13 – Cincinnati, OH @ Riverbend Music Center

July 14 – Clarkston, MI @ DTE Energy Music Theatre

July 16 – Camden, NJ @ Susquehanna Bank Center

July 17 – Bethel, NY @ Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

July 19 – Essex Junction, VT @ Champlain Valley Expo

July 21 – Wantagh, NY @ Jones Beach

July 22 – Great Woods, MA @ Xfinity Center

July 24 – Oro-Medonte, ONT @ Wayhome Festival

Young is a recognized advocate for sustainable change. Back in November 2014, Young called for a boycott of Starbucks for their attempts to squash GMO labeling in Vermont.

The Rolling Stone reported:

“Neil Young is seeking a new source for his daily latte. The rocker announced on his website this week that he’s boycotting Starbucks over the coffee company’s involvement in a lawsuit against the state of Vermont’s new requirement to label genetically modified ingredients.”

The fact that this icon is raising alarm in a creative way over Monsanto’s cancer-linked chemicals and unethical business habits says something for how far the collective mentality is progressing. One can only imagine he will not only enlighten listeners through his words, but inspire others to take action as well.
