In recent weeks, there has been a massive wave of religious and cultural intolerance directed towards Muslim people in the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks. This hate and mistrust has no legitimate basis, considering the fact that an extremely tiny portion of Muslims are terrorists, and that the attackers in Paris were described as being “not very religious,” and were driven to join ISIS in a quest for power, violence and revenge. Also a majority of the attackers were not immigrants, but were actually EU citizens.
The debate surrounding Muslims and immigrants in the United States has been taken to extremes by politicians and political candidates who have called for extremely drastic measures that would violate the rights of every single person in the country. Donald Trump has called for Muslims to be forced to wear badges in public, much like the badges that Jewish people were forced to wear in Nazi Germany. Other politicians have called for a database for Muslims and new immigrants while others have called for World War 2 style internment camps for immigrants.
Popular talk show host Montell Williams has spoke out these proposals and said in a recent tweet that he would be prepared to “take up arms against the government” if these policies are put into place.
If the Government ever makes Muslims carry ID cards or shuts down mosques, I will have no choice but to take up arms against my government.

Williams has been outspoken on numerous different topics in the past, not just relating to religious freedom, but also marijuana legalization as well. Not even 24 hours after making this post about taking arms up against the government Williams wrote an op-ed for Penn Live called, “Here’s why the Pa. House needs to approve an important medical marijuana bill.”
According to Wikipedia, Williams is best known as host of the long-running The Montel Williams Show, and more recently as a spokesman for the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA). Williams is also active with the non-profit MS Foundation, which he founded after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999.
