McDonalds has been scrambling to slim down their budgets after seeing their profits fall drastically in recent years. One way that they are finding to cut costs is by replacing employees with robots, just as many grocery stores across the world have started doing.

In fact, a new McDonalds location is set to open in Phoenix, Arizona that will be run entirely by robots, aside from a small crew of humans who will be hired to help operate and oversee the robots. This new location will be a test run to see if a mostly robot staff will work in other McDonalds restaurants across the world.

“These things are great! They get their work done in a fast and orderly manner. And they don’t ask for cigarette breaks,” The store’s new manager, Jay Funkhouser, told CNN.

However, critics are concerned that this could lead to further unemployment in the area. CNN interviewed one unemployed worker named Milton Waddams, who said that “This McDonald’s had my resume, I already completed two job interviews there and was scheduled to start working once the new store opened in July. I need a job, I need money. Then I hear of this new robot McDonald’s instead of a regular human one and my dreams are completely shattered. I don’t know what I’m going to do. My mom wants me out of the house at the end of the month, so now I’m going to have to find another place to crash I guess. Fuc*king McDonald’s. I could set the building on fire.”

In recent months, we have been paying close attention to how McDonalds and other popular junk food brands are falling out of favor as people become more conscious about their diets. GMO food in general is also quickly losing trust among consumers.

Several months ago, it was reported that organic food sales in the United States had risen to over $35 billion per year. This number is expected to climb as interest in organic food continues to grow exponentially.

Recently, we reported that junk-soda giant Coca-Cola is facing major financial challenges as sales steadily decline. Some fast food restaurants, such as Burger King, have been removing sodas from their kids meals, in an attempt to seem more concerned with health.
