At the end of it all, does it truly make a difference on how you love your child, if they are yours by blood or not? All the children in this world deserve the utmost care and affection from parents. The love that one feels for their children whether or not they are related by blood is the same, or at times – even stronger.

This particular child went through so much trauma from being rejected by families that were looking for a child as their own. By the time this little girl was 13 days old, 20 families had already refused to adopt her. They were too blind to see her charm and kindness because they only focused on her difference – her disability. They never took the time to accept her and love her for who she is. Because of that, they totally missed a wonderful opportunity to find beauty in the unexpected. They failed to see and learn as to what unconditional love really means.

The story of Luca Trapanese is truly beautiful because of the fact that single male parents, and even more, those that are homosexual, are hardly ever given fully custody of a child. In this case though, the social services made an exception and chose Luca to give Alba a happy home. He was officially able to adopt Alba in 2017, when she was only a couple of weeks old.

This made Luca a proud and happy parent of a very special baby girl. When we solely concentrate on a disability of a child, we fail to see all their other abilities that are more often than not, truly amazing. A child that has Down Syndrome is as loving, beautiful, kind and amazing as all the other children out there.

Each baby that is born into this world is unique in their own self like pieces in a complex puzzle. Children with Down Syndrome are so affectionate and charming that all they expect from their parents is constant care and encouragement, while being attached to them through the years of growing up.

41-year-old Luca published a book about his unique journey when he became the proud father of little Alba. With that, he challenged and broke all stereotypes of single parents, which made him a phenomenon, especially in his home country, Italy, that is still quite conservative. Homosexuals and single parents often find it difficult to adopt a baby in Italy.

Luca has broken all stereotypical ideas built around proper fatherhood, families and sexuality.
