8. Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy
When invasive but non-surgical means of therapy still don’t work, then surgery is the next step in removing the stones. One particular surgery is known as Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy, where a doctor will actually put a tube through the body in order to insert it into the kidney to pull out the stone, with a recovery period of around 1 to 2 hospital days.
