Most people, when confronted with a cardboard box, break down down the item to throw in the trash or store it for a day when they might need it to move. When Japanese artist Monomi Ohno sees a cardboard box, she gets to work creating masterful art pieces.

As RocketNews24 reports, the innovative artist began creating amazing 3D sculptures while attending Osaka University of the Arts. After deciding to specialize in 3D animation, she soon learned that it is very costly to invest in all the software necessary to become a digital animator. Challenged but not deterred, she began honing her skills by practicing on excess cardboard boxes she had accumulated from Amazon. Without anticipating worldwide fame, however, Ohno had become a renowned cardboard artist!

She can literally turn cardboard boxes into anything. From tanks, rifles, and food to pop culture characters and Star Wars figurines, she has championed a new method of recycling that we absolutely love.
