For those who still believe Bush and Blair made an honest mistake when they invaded Iraq, new revelations might come as a huge shock
The illegal invasion of Iraq was plotted behind closed doors a whole year before it happened, leaked emails have revealed. A memo from then Secretary of State Colin Powell to George W Bush, published at weekend in the Mail on Sunday, outlined how Tony Blair agreed to support a US-led ‘intervention’ in Iraq. This was months before the false ‘Saddam Hussein has Weapons of Mass Destruction’ narrative was invented as justification for what was arguably the most disastrous and pointless ‘war’ since Vietnam.
The memo, headed ‘Secret… Memorandum for the President’ was written on March 28, 2002, a week before Bush and Blair held a summit at Bush’s Crawford ranch in Texas. This was where the Iraq war was planned in secret.
Powell told Bush that Blair ‘will be with us’ on military action. Powell assures the president: ‘The UK will follow our lead’. The document details a shady deal between the two men many want arrested for war crimes. Blair agreed to act as a glorified spin doctor for Bush by declaring that Saddam had Weapons of Mass Destruction, which we now know was total bullshit. He did have loads of oil, though, so we can only assume the murder of millions of innocent civilians was all worth it in the end.
In return for these bare-faced lies, Bush would pretend Britain was not just America’s poodle, but an equal partner in this ‘special relationship’. At the time, Blair was telling the British public that he would continue to find a ‘diplomatic solution’ to the Iraq ‘problem’. The RT report above gives more detail on the extent of this outrageous manipulation of public feeling, not to mention Blair’s own Labour party. Images of the leaked documents are below.
