GETTING GLIMPSES

Eva saw just how dark and twisted the Angel of Death was. He earned the name, indeed. She recalled how she saw a set of Gypsy twins sewn back to back as if Mengele wanted to recreate how Siamese twins looked. He connected blood vessels and organs together and observed how their bodies would react to the changes.

DEATH KEEPS KNOCKING

The conjoined twins never recovered. They screamed day and night from the infection they got and the gangrene that eventually set in. They died soon after, and for Eva, this was too much to experience. Ten-year-olds were meant to enjoy their youth and play with toys. The children in their barracks, however, saw more death than a normal person would in his or her entire lifetime.
