Humored Orangutan Goes Ape Over Magic Trick [Watch]

Watch what happens when this young orangutan witnesses his first magic trick…

A young orangutan at a zoo in Barcelona, Spain got struck with the giggles after he witnessed his first magic trick.

As you can watch in the video above, the ape peered intently through the exhibit’s glass as Dan Zaleski of Meriden, Connecticut conducted a ‘magic’ trick with an object in his coffee cup.

A few quick shakes, an abracadabra, and the cup was empty. It caused the adorable orangutan to take a double-take before he burst out laughing and began rolling around on the floor uncontrollably.

Orangutans are incredibly intelligent and playful mammals. Due to poaching and the depletion of their natural environment, however, they are classified as ‘endangered’ and need our help. The production of palm oil, especially, is a threat to these peaceful creatures.

Palm oil is often cultivated in an unsustainable way, particularly in Indonesia and Malaysia. Not only are the unsustainable mass palm oil plantations harming the environment and indigenous communities, they are taking a toll on wildlife.

It is the responsibility of everyone to help enforce laws and to take part in conservation efforts to protect them. That way, these wonderful apes may thrive for years to come.
