On that one fateful day on May 26, 1990 in Wellington, Florida, Marlene Warren was having a quiet breakfast at home. She was watching over her son, Joseph “Joey” Ahren, while he had some of his friends over. On the outside, they seemed like an ideal family. She loved Joey and her husband, Michael, seemed to love him as a stepson as well. Everything that day started out innocently enough. A car drove into her driveway and a clown exited from the driver’s seat, carrying two balloons and a bouquet of flowers. This seemed like an extremely sweet gesture.
