Yesterday, at least 22 people were killed and 120 injured after a suspected terrorist attack took place at the Manchester Arena. Concert goers – primarily kids and teenagers – were attending an Ariana Grande concert when all of a sudden, “huge bangs” shook the venue. According to eyewitnesses, chaos then erupted as people began climbing over each other to leave the arena. Reportedly, 22-year-old Salman Abedi was behind the attack.

One story that has surfaced after the incident may just be the most heartbreaking. According to Manchester Evening News, a homeless man named Chris Parker was in the foyer of the concert venue when the bomb went off. He told the press,

“Everyone was piling out, all happy and everything else. As people were coming out of the glass doors I heard a bang and within a split second I saw a white flash, then smoke and then I heard screaming. It knocked me to the floor and then I got up and instead of running away my gut instinct was to run back and try and help.”

The 33-year-old man says he saw people lying everywhere, including a small girl he wrapped in one of the merchandise T-shirts. He asked her, “where is your mum and daddy?” to which she replied, “my dad is at work, my mum is up there.” He suspects her mom died during the blast.

Parker also recalls holding a woman in her 60’s, badly injured from leg and head injuries, in his arms as he passed away. He recalls, “She passed away in my arms. She was in her 60s and said she had been with her family.”

Commenting on the tragedy, Parker stated:

“I haven’t stopped crying. The most shocking part of it is that it was a kids’ concert.”

“There were nuts and bolts all over the floor. People had holes in their back. It’s the screams I can’t get over and the smell … I don’t like to say it but it smelled like burning flesh, he added. “I don’t think anything has sunk in yet. It’s just shock.”

His story is very similar to others’ who witnessed the ordeal. Please comment your thoughts below and share this news!
