14. Take Folate or Methylfolate

There may be a link between low levels of folic acid (the synthetic form of folate – Vitamin B9) and depression. Taking 500 micrograms of folic acid has been linked with improving the effectiveness of other antidepressant medications.

Some people have a certain genetic mutation where they do not metabolize regular folate. Methylfolate is a special form of folate for those who are “poor methylators” see tremendous advantages of supplementing with methylfolate.
